The Fèlsina Chianti Riserva DOCG Rancia 2019 is an outstanding wine that perfectly showcases the excellence of the Sangiovese grape. This wine comes from the Chianti Classico area in Tuscany, more specifically from the Rancia vineyard, which is named after a former Benedictine monastery. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 400 to 420 meters and face southwest, which offers ideal conditions for cultivation

The Sangiovese grape variety is known for its strong tannins, high acidity and lively fruit aromas. These qualities are particularly effective in Rancia. The wine has a ruby red color with intense tones. The scent unfolds spicy and floral notes, accompanied by wild berries, mineral impressions and slightly roasted nuances. On the palate, the wine has firm but supple tannins and a strong, firm finish. The aromas of spices and berries are repeated, supported by lively acidity

A particular characteristic of this wine is its classification as a “Riserva”. This means that the wine goes through a longer aging period, in this case 16-18 months in French oak barrels, followed by further aging in the bottle for at least 6-8 months. This extended aging gives the wine greater complexity and depth

An icon wine of Tuscany, the Fèlsina 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia (made with 48,000 bottles) is distinguished by its special aromatic fingerprint that truly brings us to a sense of place. At its heart, the wine reveals dark fruit and plum. More interesting, however, are the dusty mineral sensations that give so much texture and depth to the Rancia. These aromas can only be found in Sangiovese from the Galestro and Alberese-rich soils of Chianti Classico. This vintage follows up with sweet tobacco, toasted chestnut and scorched earth. Give this wine more time to flesh out and evolve in the bottle.
