Strasserhof
Strasserhof is one of the oldest wine estates in the Isarco Valley and is located above Neustift Abbey near Vahrn, close to Brixen. Situated between 680 and 750 metres above sea level, this family-run winery is among the northernmost wine estates in Italy. Its unique location in the heart of the Isarco Valley plays a defining role in the character of the wines: steep sunny slopes, cool nights and mineral-rich soils provide ideal conditions for elegant, precise and vibrant white wines.
The history of Strasserhof dates back to the 11th century. Today, the Baumgartner family manages the estate with a strong focus on local traditions and the valley’s typical grape varieties. Around 5.5 hectares of vineyards, some with vines over 45 years old, benefit from the altitude and sandy, mineral-rich soils. These conditions give the wines their signature freshness, refined minerality and alpine elegance.
The estate is especially known for the classic white grape varieties of the Isarco Valley, which thrive in this cool alpine environment. Sylvaner is one of Strasserhof’s flagship varieties, valued for its elegance and mineral precision. Kerner, Riesling and Müller-Thurgau also play an important role, developing freshness, aromatic clarity and lively acidity in the high-altitude vineyards. The portfolio is completed by Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Grigio, all reflecting the distinctive alpine identity of the Isarco Valley.
