The vineyards are located in and around Bolzano, one of South Tyrol’s most important wine-growing areas. Here, Mediterranean influences meet Alpine freshness, creating ideal conditions for viticulture. Warm days, cool nights and diverse soils provide the foundation for elegant, expressive wines with a distinctive regional character.
Hans Rottensteiner is especially known for Lagrein and St. Magdalener, two of South Tyrol’s most important traditional red wines. At the same time, the winery showcases the region’s diversity with a broad portfolio of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. The focus remains on varietal typicity, balance and a clear expression of terroir.
A special role is played by the “Select” line, which represents the winery’s premium wines. These labels come from particularly well-suited vineyard sites and stand out for their additional depth, structure and ageing potential. One of the highlights is the Lagrein Riserva Select, which reflects the winery’s powerful yet elegant style.
The estate also includes the Premstallerhof, whose vineyards in prime locations contribute significantly to the quality and identity of the wines. Through careful vineyard work and a precise approach in the cellar, Hans Rottensteiner creates authentic South Tyrolean wines that combine tradition with a contemporary vision.
