A key part of Thomas Rottensteiner’s philosophy is organic viticulture. The vineyards are farmed with great respect for nature, aiming to preserve biodiversity and express the authentic character of both vintage and origin. Especially in the steeper vineyard sites, manual work continues to play an important role.
One of Obermoser’s particular strengths is the balance between tradition and modern vineyard practices. Vernatsch and Lagrein vines are cultivated mainly using the traditional South Tyrolean pergola training system, while Sauvignon Blanc is predominantly trained using the Guyot system. In the cellar, Obermoser follows a precise and restrained approach to winemaking, focusing on elegance, freshness and a clear expression of origin.
The winery is especially known for its characterful Lagrein wines and traditional St. Magdalener made from Vernatsch. With wines such as Lagrein Riserva Grafenleiten and St. Magdalener Classico, Obermoser combines South Tyrolean winemaking tradition with a strong commitment to quality.
