Pranzegg’s vineyards around Bolzano benefit from a unique combination of alpine climate and Mediterranean influences. Traditional grape varieties such as Lagrein, Schiava, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc thrive here, alongside other grapes that develop their own identity depending on vineyard site and vintage. Many of the steep vineyards are cultivated entirely by hand, a demanding but intentional choice to preserve grape quality and vineyard biodiversity.
In the cellar, Pranzegg follows a low-intervention and natural winemaking philosophy. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for extended periods on fine lees. Fining and filtration are kept to a minimum, while sulfur is used only sparingly. The result is a range of authentic wines with freshness, depth and individuality.
Pranzegg is especially known for its character-driven interpretations of South Tyrolean grape varieties and distinctive cuvées, often inspired by places, people or stories connected to the estate. Wines such as Lagrein Laurenc, Caroline and Tonsur showcase an authentic and artisanal expression of South Tyrol. The philosophy remains unchanged: to craft honest wines that express place rather than follow trends.
