Le Volte IGT 2022 by Ornellaia opens a story of conviviality and carefree pleasures with every sip. As an introduction to the world of Ornellaia, this sparkling red wine charmingly embodies the passion for quality that is lived at the winery every day. With a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, Le Volte 2022 is an intense purple red. On the nose, it seduces with ripe fruit aromas of cherry and blackberry, underlined by subtle nuances of black pepper. On the palate, it develops a full, luscious volume with a soft but persistent tannin structure. The aftertaste is characterized by refreshing freshness and a pleasant fruity aroma.
The year 2022 in Bolgheri began with a classic winter and a cool, dry spring. A 75-day increase in heat and drought from May weighed on the vines, but led to low yields. Fortunately, summer thunderstorms alleviated the situation and allowed an ideal ripening period in September. The grape varieties were fermented separately and aged for 10 months in barriques and cement tanks to achieve the perfect balance between tannin structure and fruit expression. The harvest began on August 25 with Merlot, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and ended on October 10.
