The Barbera d'Asti DOCG Bricco della Bigotta 2019 by Braida is presented in an intense, dark ruby red. On the nose, it develops a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, dominated by cherries and plums, accompanied by spicy notes of licorice and vanilla and a touch of wood. On the palate, the wine is rich and round, with aromas reminiscent of ripe fruit and undergrowth. The finish is very long and elegant, giving this wine an impressive depth and structure

This wine consists of 100% Barbera grapes, which are known for their strong acidity and intense fruitiness. The vines grow on clay and calcareous soils, which offer a special minerality and structure. The Guyot training system ensures optimal lighting and ventilation of the vines, which contributes to the

development of complex aromas.

A special feature of Bricco della Bigotta is its vineyard quality and careful vinification. The wine ages first in stainless steel tanks and then in French oak barrels for 18 months, giving it additional depth and a sophisticated woody note. The 2019 vintage was highly rated by critics and is considered particularly successful, which underlines the exceptional quality of this wine

An interesting detail is the name “Bigotta”, which refers to a pious elderly woman who lived near the vineyard and whose devotional images served as inspiration for winemakers. This wine is an excellent example of the combination of tradition and quality in Piedmontese viticulture. The Bricco della Bigotta has absolutely earned its place in the wine cellar!

The 2019 Barbera d'Asti Bricco della Bigotta shows a velvety dark appearance with blackberry, tar and camphor ash. This is a full-bodied and thickly textured expression of Barbera with points of bright acidity that give the wine extra lift and focus. Like some of the other new releases from Braida, the high alcohol (measured here at 16%) is overboard.
