Der Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2018, ein Grand Cru Classé de Graves, beeindruckt mit tiefem Rubinrot und fast schwarzem Kern. In der Nase zeigt er eine komplexe Aromatik aus reifen roten Früchten wie Kirsche und Himbeere, kombiniert mit Noten von Gewürzen, Lakritz und einem Hauch von Rauch und Mineralität, die die kieshaltigen Böden widerspiegeln. Am Gaumen ist der Wein vollmundig und kraftvoll, mit seidigen Tanninen, lebhafter Frische und einer perfekten Balance. Der Abgang ist langanhaltend und vielschichtig, geprägt von roten Früchten, Gewürzen und einer subtilen erdigen Note.
Dieser Jahrgang ist eine Cuvée aus 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc und 2% Petit Verdot. Der 2018er Jahrgang profitierte von optimalen Reifebedingungen, die einen konzentrierten und aromatischen Wein hervorbrachten. Die Vinifikation und die 18-monatige Reifung in teilweise neuen Eichenfässern verleihen ihm Struktur und Eleganz.
