The Cabernet Merlot Riserva DOC Cortazo 2021 from the Pfitscher winery, from the sun-drenched “Brenntal” location in Kurtatsch, South Tyrol, is a powerful and complex cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is a lively ruby red and seduces with subtle nuances of violets and wild berries on the nose, which underline its freshness and purity.
The grapes for Cortazo are carefully picked by hand to ensure quality. After harvesting, fermentation takes place in fermentation tanks, followed by careful aging in small and large oak barrels for 12 to 15 months to refine the fine tannins and give the wines more structure and depth.
The Pfitscher winery, known for its commitment to quality and tradition, uses the unique climatic conditions of Kurtatsch, where the large temperature differences between day and night promote the aromatic development of the grapes. This helps Cortazo develop a particularly fruity character and a distinctive longevity.
