Weinmanufakut Luis Oberrauch, Clauserweg 11, 39040 Auer (BZ), IT
The Mitterberg Rot IGT 2020 from Luis Oberrauch consists of 100% Lagrein grape variety. Lagrein is known for its deep colors and powerful aromas. This vintage shows an intensely bright ruby red colour. On the nose, it develops a complex bouquet of wild berries and violets. On the palate, it is warm and persistent, with finely structured tannins and a pleasant, typical acidity.
The mineral soils and the alpine microclimate, which give the grapes a particular freshness and complexity, are typical of this wine and the wine-growing region of South Tyrol. Luis Oberrauch uses manual harvesting and spontaneous mash fermentation in open tonneaux for around six weeks, followed by aging in used barriques and tonneaux. The 2020 vintage Lagrein has received additional depth and roundness from the one-year barrique warehouse, which makes it accessible and complex at the same time.
