The Redigaffi HK vintage 2020 is an outstanding example of a Super Tuscan wine. This deep ruby red wine offers a wealth of aromas that enchant the senses. The nose is wooed by a scent of black pepper, oriental spices and dark berries, which are wonderfully accompanied by nuances of cocoa beans, tamarind and toasted notes. On the palate, it is generous, lively and has a magnificent balance and persistence. The elegant tannin structure gives it an incredibly enthusiastic sip.
This Tuscan wine comes from the hills of the Colline Metallifere in the Suvereto area. It is a red wine from Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT) Toscana, produced by the renowned Tua Rita winery. The grape varieties consist of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are planted on dense loamy soil with a medium to high proportion of gravel. The vineyards are cultivated organically and have a plant density of up to 8,500 vines per hectare.
The grapes are harvested by hand and after vinification, the wine ages in French oak barriques for around 18 months before being bottled. The name of the wine, Redigaffi HK, is a tribute to the beautiful church of San Giusto in Suvereto and to the first vineyard planted by Tua Rita in Notri. This wine is not just a product, but represents the 20-year history and philosophy of Tua Rita. It is the result of constant innovation, respect for nature and deep ties with the land. This Super Tuscan Wine belongs in every wine lover's wine cellar!

I tasted this wine a few times over the course of about four months, and it is lovely to see how well it has taken to bottle. The Tua Rita 2020 Redigaffi is the estate's headline wine made with Merlot. The bouquet sings with dark fruit, dried apricot, spice, leather and campfire ash. You taste that extra richness and concentration in this full-bodied red. On the palate, Redigaffi is soft and accessible with rich layering and texture.
