Intense aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and green pepper, accompanied by floral notes and a touch of freshly mown grass
Lively with crisp acidity and mineral notes, a touch of herbs and a slight bitterness on the finish
Very interesting with cooked white asparagus and bolzano sauce, but also with steamed green asparagus; with tuna carpacci, smoked salmon or raw lobster; also with spicy South Tyrolean with nettle dumplings but also with steamed trout with vegetables or young goat cheese.
The Sauvignon Blanc Winkl DOC 2024 from Cantina Terlano is an exceptional wine that perfectly embodies the distinctive characteristics of the Terlano wine region. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow color. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet with notes of apricot, mandarin, and passion fruit, enriched by hints of elderflower, nettle, and mint. On the palate, this Sauvignon Blanc impresses with its lively acidity and mineral structure, accompanied by fruity flavors and an aromatic, persistent finish. Produced entirely from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, this wine reflects Cantina Terlano's commitment to crafting high-quality wines that express the uniqueness of the Alto Adige terroir.
Cantina Terlano's vineyards are situated on calcareous soils rich in minerals, located at altitudes between 280 and 580 meters above sea level, with south-southwest exposure and slopes ranging from 5 to 70%. These conditions, along with the region's cool climate, contribute to the development of the characteristic aromas and freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc Winkl. The yield is 56 hl/ha, ensuring high-quality grapes are harvested.
Harvesting is done manually, with careful selection of the grapes. After gentle pressing, the must is clarified through natural sedimentation. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 7-8 months on fine lees, partly in stainless steel tanks (80%) and partly in large wooden barrels (20%), developing complexity and structure. After bottling, the wine undergoes further aging in the bottle, achieving a perfect balance between fruitiness, acidity, and minerality.
