Lagrein DOC Garnet 2022 from Glögglhof, cultivated by Franz Gojer, is a remarkable expression of the traditional South Tyrolean wine-growing region. This wine, made from the local Lagrein grape variety, comes from three excellent locations: Gries, St. Magdalena and Bozner Boden, which are known for their ideal growing conditions.
The climatic conditions of this region and the well-drained, gravelly soils provide the perfect basis for growing this variety, with the local education system helping the vines to ripen optimally.
The color of the wine is a deep garnet red, which reflects its maturity and intensity. On the nose, it develops a complex bouquet of red and black berries, interspersed with notes of warm spices and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate, Lagrein has a distinctive structure and fullness, which is presented in a harmonious balance of acidity, tannins and spice, resulting in a long-lasting aftertaste.
This wine undergoes a careful aging process of two years in both small and large oak barrels, followed by further aging on the bottle, which gives it depth and complexity. The Glögglhof, led by the Gojer family, underlines the importance of tradition, minimal intervention and the preservation of the natural characteristics of the grapes in order to produce wines that are both authentic and outstanding.
