Andre Robert

Champagne

The André Robert winery, with its 14 hectares of vineyards, is located on the slopes of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Marne department, in the Grand Est region, and is particularly known for its Chardonnay vines.
The family tradition dates back four generations and began in the 1930s with Henri Robert, who, together with a winegrowers' association, raised the necessary funds to start wine production.
However, the first A. Robert champagnes only came onto the market in the 1960s, when André himself acquired the winery, including the ideal limestone cellars, which are perfect for long bottle aging and became the company's trademark. Since 2019, Claire Robert and her husband Jean-Baptiste Denizart have been running the family business with a philosophy that combines patience, observation of time changes and the utmost care at every stage of vinification.
Chardonnay takes center stage here and is preferred over Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier because it gives the cuvées floral and citric notes that create elegant and lively wines.
The work is aimed at a balance between terroir and vinification: Nature is supported with minimal intervention and organic management of the vines. The wines age on their own yeasts in oak barrels for at least ten months. The calcareous soils give the wines freshness, finesse and minerality, while the aging in wood and the long bottle storage periods of three to seven years result in particular complexity, structure and depth.
Careful microvinifications, in which the different plots are vinified separately to bring out the specific characteristics of each cru, makes A. Robert champagnes truly unique products.
