Lagrein 2024 from the Girlan winery has a deep ruby red that already indicates its intensity. On the nose, it develops a complex bouquet of dark berries such as blackcurrants and blackberries, accompanied by spicy notes of black olives and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied with ripe tannins that give a pleasant structure and length. The main grape variety of the wine is Lagrein, an autochthonous grape variety of South Tyrol known for its deep red color and spicy aroma.
The special feature of this wine lies in its origin from the Girlan wine-growing zone, which is known for its climatic conditions and special terroir. The Mediterranean climate combined with the cool nights in the vineyards promotes the slow ripening of the grapes and allows the aromas to develop optimally.
Lagrein DOC from Girlan is aged in stainless steel tanks after harvesting to preserve its freshness and fruitiness. Some of the wine is then aged in wooden barrels for a few months to support its structure and complexity. This combination of modern and traditional winegrowing methods results in a wine of exceptional quality and character.
