The Sauvignon Blanc Ried Grassnitzberg Erste STK Lage BIO 2019 from Weingut Tement reflects the unique terroir of southern Styria in a fresh, focused expression. It pours a medium yellow with greenish glints. The aromatic profile offers notes of gooseberry, yellow bell pepper, green banana, and subtle herbal hints. On the palate, it is crisp, fruit-driven, and structured, showing vibrant acidity, delicate bitterness, and a clean, mineral-driven finish. The vines are rooted in ancient coral limestone soils, part of a 16-million-year-old reef, which enhances the wine’s texture and stony precision. First planted in the 1950s by Josef Tement, Grassnitzberg is one of the family's signature vineyards. The 2019 vintage stands out for its finesse and clarity. While enjoyable in its youth, this wine develops its distinctive “Grassnitzberg character” after 3 to 5 years of aging and can be cellared for 15+ years.
