The Spätburgunder “Eichberg” VDP.Große Lage 2021 from Franz Keller presents a brilliant ruby hue and impressive aromatic complexity. The bouquet reveals black cherry, cassis, violet, and sweet spice, complemented by hints of smoke and soft leather. On the palate, it’s rich and structured, with ripe plum and blackcurrant supported by vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins. The finish is long, elegant, and layered with notes of dark chocolate and a subtle mineral core. Aged in French oak barriques (45% new), this Pinot Noir shows depth, polish, and age-worthy precision. The Eichberg vineyard, a classified VDP.Große Lage in Oberrotweil (Kaiserstuhl), features volcanic soils that impart signature minerality and terroir-driven character to this outstanding wine.
