Tenuta di Biserno, Ludovico Antinori, Palazzo Gardini, Piazza Gramsci 9, 57020 Bibbona (Livorno), Italy
The Lodovico 2017 from Tenuta di Biserno shines in a deep ruby red with purple hues. On the nose, it delivers a complex bouquet of dark fruits such as blueberries, blackberries and plums, enriched by notes of chocolate, mocha, smoke, mint, earthy nuances, cedarwood and a hint of vanilla.
On the palate, it is dry, with a medium to full body, elegant structure and refined complexity. The fine-grained, sweet tannins and moderate acidity offer a rounded and fresh mouthfeel. The finish is long, with lingering notes of raspberries, cherries and chocolate.
Made primarily from Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the wine expresses the Bordeaux-style blends for which Tuscany has become renowned.
The 2017 vintage was marked by extreme heat and drought, resulting in concentrated fruit and impressive structure. Tenuta di Biserno, founded by Lodovico Antinori, lies in the Upper Maremma near Bibbona and benefits from a unique terroir shaped by constant sea breezes. Antinori, a visionary in the development of Bolgheri wines, recognized the region’s potential as early as the 1980s.
