The Sorentberg winery is located in the renowned Moselle region of Germany and is known for its high-quality Riesling wines. The vineyards are located in a side valley of the Moselle and are characterized by steep southern slopes with unique red Wissenbach slate, which gives the wines a distinctive spice.
The winery was founded by the two young winemakers Tobias Treis from Reil an der Mosel and Ivan Giovanett from Neumarkt in South Tyrol. After 25 years of wasteland, they recultivated the almost forgotten individual Reiler Sorentberg vineyard and brought it back into production.
Particularly noteworthy is the Riesling “From 1000 Old Vines”, which is obtained from almost 1000 old, root-rich vines that were discovered and revived during recultivation work. This wine impresses with its complexity and depth and was awarded 93 points by Falstaff.
Another highlight is the “Red Slate” Riesling, which reflects the mineral properties of red slate in taste and is appreciated for its freshness and elegance.
The Sorentberg winery combines traditional winemaking with innovative methods and thus contributes to the revival of historic vineyards on the Moselle. The wines are internationally recognized and reflect the unique terroir of the Sorentberg
