The Sauvignon IGT Fumé 2022 from Abraham is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc vinified using the traditional Fumé method. The grapes come from the “Kreit” single vineyard near Eppan at around 450 m above sea level. The mineral-rich soils of quartz porphyry, gneiss, and mica lend the wine structure and finesse. After about 24 hours of skin contact, the must is gently pressed.
Approximately 20% ferments on the skins for around four weeks. The wine then matures for at least 16 months on the full lees, with malolactic fermentation – resulting in depth, smokiness, and complexity.
In the glass, it shows a brilliant, intense golden yellow. The nose reveals earthy, smoky notes alongside delicate fruit – white peppercorns, ripe apricot, and herbal nuances. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, yet vibrant, with fresh tannins and a lively, long finish. An elegant Sauvignon with remarkable depth, expressiveness, and length – captivating and distinctive.
