Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC
The Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2022 by Marchesi Fumanelli is an excellent representative of the traditional art of winemaking in Veneto. The grapes for this wine come from the estate's older vineyards in the Valpolicella Classico zone, which is known for its calcareous soils and optimal microclimate.
This wine is a blend of Corvina (30-40%), Corvinone (40-50%) and Rondinella (10-20%). This grape variety combination is typical of the region and is known for its ability to produce wines with rich structure and aromatic complexity.
In the glass, the wine is bright ruby red. Aromas of dark cherries and red fruits dominate the nose, complemented by nuances of vanilla and spices thanks to aging in oak barrels. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a balanced acidity that results in a long and elegant finish.
One of the specialties of the Fumanelli winery is the ripasso method, which is not used in this wine. Instead, production focuses on highlighting the natural characteristics of grapes and the terroir. This is achieved through careful hand harvesting and subsequent aging in French barriques, which give the wine its characteristic depth and complexity.
