Ville Colmar

The estate cultivates around 46 hectares of vineyards, including its primary site, the Clos Saint-Jacques, the Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach, as well as additional parcels surrounding Colmar.

The Domaine de la Ville de Colmar was founded in 1895 by the renowned ampelographer Chrétien Oberlin. The family’s winemaking tradition dates back to the 16th century, making the estate one of the few in the region where an oenologist or winemaker has been continuously present within the family for generations.
The winery is located in the heart of the Colmar wine region in Alsace (northeastern France), an area widely known for its white wines and its distinctive winemaking heritage.
The estate cultivates around 46 hectares of vineyards, including its primary site, the Clos Saint-Jacques, the Domaine du Moulin de Dusenbach, as well as additional parcels surrounding Colmar.
The vineyards lie on a variety of soils with vibrant structure — including clay and stony soils that contribute to the wines’ freshness and minerality. Since the 2023 harvest, the estate has been officially certified organic.
Domaine de la Ville de Colmar produces a broad range of classic Alsatian wines — such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscat d’Alsace, Sylvaner and Pinot Noir — representing many of the region’s traditional grape varieties. The estate also crafts high-quality sparkling wines, including Crémant d’Alsace.
Their wines stand out through the combination of carefully practiced traditional viticulture, a profound understanding of the terroir, and modern standards of quality and sustainability.
The philosophy of Domaine de la Ville de Colmar blends tradition with modernity — honoring long-established winemaking practices while embracing environmentally conscious, contemporary cultivation methods. With the organic certification introduced from the 2023 vintage, the estate demonstrates its commitment to sustainable viticulture and responsible stewardship of nature.
The goal is to create wines that authentically reflect the character and terroir of Alsace — clear, expressive, mineral-driven and aromatic.
