Metodo Classico & South Tyrolean Wines

For more than a century, Kettmeir has helped shape South Tyrol’s wine landscape and is now recognised as one of the leading producers of premium alpine sparkling wines. Founded in 1919 in Kaltern, the winery combines tradition, craftsmanship and a strong commitment to quality. The unique climate around Lake Caldaro – warm days, cool nights and significant temperature shifts – creates ideal conditions for elegant and expressive wines.

Kettmeir is considered one of the pioneers of sparkling wine production in South Tyrol. The winery began producing sparkling wines in the 1960s, while the first wines made using the Metodo Classico were introduced in 1992, a milestone that continues to define the winery’s identity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle and extended lees ageing create fine perlage, precise freshness and refined depth. The Athesis range represents Kettmeir’s more refined sparkling wines, while the 1919 Riserva line stands at the top of the portfolio.

Alongside its renowned sparkling wines, Kettmeir also produces expressive still wines from classic South Tyrolean and international grape varieties. From Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc to Lagrein and Pinot Noir, the wines reflect the diversity of South Tyrol while combining alpine freshness with a strong sense of origin.
