Château La Mission Haut-Brion is a renowned winery in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, south of Bordeaux, France. It was founded in the 16th century and achieved international recognition in the 20th century under the leadership of the Woltner family. Since 1983, the winery has belonged to Domaine Clarence Dillon, which also owns the neighboring Château Haut-Brion.
The estate covers 29 hectares, 25 hectares of which are planted with red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The remaining 4 hectares are planted with white varieties such as Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The soils consist of gravelly substrates with sand, clay and lime, which gives the wines a special minerality.
Château La Mission Haut-Brion produces both red and white wines. The red wines are characterized by their intense richness, strong body and complex aromas. The white wines, in particular Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, are known for their elegance and longevity.
The winery attaches great importance to sustainable viticulture and actively promotes biodiversity on its own property by planting trees and hedges. No insecticides are used to protect the environment.
