The Nicolas Potel winery has made a name for itself in the renowned Burgundy wine region. Founded in 1997 by Nicolas Potel, a talented winemaker who founded his own wine trading company after the death of his father and the sale of his parents' winery Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. Maison Nicolas Potel is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, one of the most prestigious wine-growing regions in the world
.

The winery is known for its outstanding wines from the best locations in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Nicolas Potel uses grapes from highly regarded Grand Cru and Premier Cru locations, including Corton, Charmes-Chambertin and Echézeaux. These sites are famous for their first-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, which are appreciated for their complexity and elegance. A special feature of the winery is that Nicolas Potel does not own his own land, but buys grapes from carefully selected winemakers to produce wines that respect Burgundy's terroir
and traditions.

Potel stayed with the company until 2009 before founding his own wineries Domaine de Bellene in Beaune and Domaine Potel-Aviron in Beaujolais. Maison Nicolas Potel is now run by the Cottin family, who purchased the estate in 2005. The estate's most famous wines include Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines, which regularly receive high ratings from international wine critics. These wines are known for their authenticity and expression of the Burgundian terroir.
