Domaine Augustin

Domaine Augustin is a renowned winery in the Champagne region, more specifically in the Premier Cru villages of Avenay-Val-d'Or and Vertus. The winery is managed by Marc and Emmanuelle Augustin, who represent the ninth generation of a family of winemakers steeped in tradition. Their philosophy and way of working are deeply rooted in the principles of biodynamics, which means they focus on sustainable practices and respect for nature.

The history of the winery is closely linked to the history of the Augustin family, who have been involved in viticulture for centuries. Marc Augustin describes his vineyards as canvases on which he brings together the best elements to create exceptional wines. This holistic approach is reflected in every step of the winemaking process, from vine care to vinification.

The terroir of Domaine Augustin is characterized by its calcareous soils and temperate climate, which offers ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These grape varieties dominate the estate's cuvées, although smaller quantities of Meunier are also grown. The Augustins' biodynamic approach includes avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, using cover crops, and harvesting according to the lunar calendar.

An interesting fact about Domaine Augustin is her approach to winemaking, which sets her apart from many others. Emmanuelle and Marc Augustin regard their wines as living organisms that must be treated with the utmost respect and love in order to develop their full potential. This is reflected in the remarkable quality and complexity of their champagnes, which are both gastronomic and celebratory
