The Aosta Valley, also known as Valle d'Aosta, is the smallest Italian wine region, located in the extreme northwest on the border with France and Switzerland. The region is known for its high-altitude Vineyards and alpine climate with long winters and short summers. At approximately 500 hectares produce around 15,000 hectoliters of wine annually. Important Wines from the region include Donnaz, Enfer d'Arvier, and Blanc From Morgex et de la Salle. Typical grape varieties include Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Trebbiano.
