Originally intended as a "green refuge" for his family, he quickly recognized the potential of the area for viticulture.
In the early 1980s, Costantino Petrini laid the foundation for Tenuta dell'Ugolino when he purchased a small farm in Castelplanio after his retirement. Originally intended as a "green refuge" for his family, he quickly recognized the potential of the area for viticulture. He began planting vines and focused on the indigenous grape variety Verdicchio. Today, Tenuta dell'Ugolino enjoys the reputation of being one of the most dedicated and quality-oriented wineries in the Marche region. Le Piaole – An Expression of the Terroir In 1993, Tenuta dell'Ugolino launched its first wine, the Verdicchio Classico "Le Piaole." Sourced from carefully tended vineyards, this wine reflects the purity and precision of Verdicchio and has received numerous awards over the years.
