Bocca di Lupo

Tenuta Bocca di Lupo lies in the heart of the Apulian Murgia, within the prestigious Castel del Monte DOC area. The estate belongs to the historic Marchesi Antinori family, which has been producing fine wines for 26 generations and is considered one of Italy’s most influential wine producers. With Bocca di Lupo, Antinori set out to reveal the true potential of Apulia – a region with ancient winemaking roots that has long deserved greater recognition for its premium-quality wines.

The estate’s vineyards cover approximately 140 hectares, located between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The soils are typical of the Murgia plateau, composed of limestone, marl and mineral-rich rock. These poor, stony soils encourage deep root growth and naturally limit yields, resulting in wines with concentration, elegance and remarkable freshness. Significant temperature variations between day and night further enhance aromatic precision and contribute to the tension and finesse that characterize the wines.

Tenuta Bocca di Lupo has been practicing organic viticulture for many years, viewing the interaction between soil, climate and vine as the foundation of authentic, terroir-driven wines. The winery itself is built partly into the rock, allowing the natural environment to support a gentle, respectful winemaking process that preserves purity and varietal identity.
The estate focuses on both indigenous and international grape varieties. Aglianico, one of Southern Italy’s finest red grapes, shows impressive depth and elegance here. Nero di Troia, another native variety, expresses intense dark fruit and refined tannins. Among the white varieties, Fiano and Chardonnay play a central role. Thanks to the area’s unique microclimate, Chardonnay reaches exceptional quality and forms the basis of the renowned Pietrabianca, a mineral-driven and structured white wine. The estate also produces notable expressions of Castel del Monte DOC, reflecting the region’s depth and complexity.

Tenuta Bocca di Lupo combines the raw beauty of the Apulian landscape, modern winemaking expertise and the centuries-old knowledge of the Antinori family. The result is a collection of elegant, characterful and long-lived wines — some of the most compelling interpretations of contemporary Apulian winemaking, from powerful, structured reds to fresh, mineral whites such as Chardonnay Pietrabianca and Castel del Monte DOC.
