The next generation is already involved in the winery, ensuring the continuation of the family legacy.
A defining characteristic of the Erbhof Unterganzner is the complete control over all production stages. From vineyard management and harvesting to vinification and bottling, every step takes place directly at the estate. This integrated approach allows precise quality control and ensures that each wine reflects the character of the surrounding vineyards.
The production focuses primarily on two classic South Tyrolean grape varieties: Lagrein and Vernatsch. Lagrein is one of the most important indigenous grapes of the region and produces powerful red wines with deep colour, ripe fruit and a distinctive structure. Vernatsch, on the other hand, plays a key role in traditional wines from the Bolzano area, including St. Magdalener, known for its elegant, fresh and fruit-driven style.
Alongside these flagship varieties, the estate also cultivates international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which are used for structured wines and distinctive blends. In the white wine range, Kerner and Chardonnay are also important varieties that benefit from the slightly cooler vineyard sites around Bolzano.
The portfolio of Erbhof Unterganzner includes classic South Tyrol DOC wines as well as more structured vineyard selections. In particular, Lagrein wines and traditional Bolzano styles form the core of the estate’s production and reflect the historical identity of viticulture in this part of South Tyrol.
