Thurnhof

The Thurnhof winery, owned by the Berger family for 160 years, is picturesquely located in Haslach on the southern slope of the Virglberg and in Grutzen south of Bolzano. Wines with character are produced here, which are the result of careful work and a long family tradition. The vineyards cover deep porphyry rubble soils and glacial moraine soils, which give the vines mineral and delicate properties.

Various grape varieties grow on the Thurnhof, including Goldmuskateller, St. Magdalener, Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Grutzen is mainly home to Goldmuskateller and Lagrein. The vineyards that produce the Sauvignon grapes are located at higher altitudes and offer ideal conditions for a racy, mineral and long-lasting Sauvignon.

The soils, characterized by a mixture of rocks from the Dolomites, Sarntal Alps and the Eisack Valley, contribute to the diversity and uniqueness of the wines. The frequent floods of the Eisack River have enriched the valley with various rocks and thus shaped the terroir characteristics of the wines. The wines of the Thurnhof are characterized by their fruitiness, softness and accessibility. Each wine is an expression of the terroir and the Berger family's long experience in winemaking.
