Burgerhof Messner
Burgerhof Messner has specialized in growing mushroom-resistant (PIWI) grape varieties for some time in order to promote its organic wine production. Cultivated varieties include Johanniter, Solaris, Muscaris, Souvignier Gris, Regent, Pinot Regina and Cabernet Cortis. The team is always ready to offer interested guests a tasting session and provide insights into their work processes and their approach to organic wine production. Their motto is: “New vines for new times!”
The passion for wine and sustainable management of Johannes, host of Burgerhof Messner, also shapes wine production on the estate. His profound knowledge, which he has gained through his work in wineries all over the world — from Australia to South Africa and South America to North America, Germany and South Tyrol — flows into the way the winery works. Traditional craftsmanship is combined with our own ideas and visions.
The motto “As much as necessary and as little as possible” is a guide for every step in the process, from growing the vines to the finished wine in the glass. The conviction that a good wine is already produced in the vineyard shapes the way the team at Burgerhof Messner works.
