Eisacktal Winery
In 1961, 24 winegrowers founded the youngest wine cooperative in South Tyrol. Today, 135 winegrowers bring their grapes from various growing zones to the Eisacktal winery every year and entrust them to the experienced winemaker. The catchment area covers around 150 hectares of winegrowing and stretches from Neustift/Brixen via Klausen/Säben Abbey to the north of Bolzano.
The Eisack Valley, the northernmost wine-growing region in Italy, offers ideal conditions for growing white grape varieties. The winery therefore specializes in white wines such as Kerner, Sylvaner, Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. The cool nights and warm days during the harvest season guarantee fresh, fruity and mineral white wines, which account for 98% of the production of the Eisacktal winery. The modern winery building in Klausen produces around 950,000 bottles a year.
The winery's range comprises a total of 14 varieties (10 white wines and 4 red wines), from which 29 wines from the classic line and the Aristos and Sabiona selection lines are made. The selection lines reflect the high quality. The basic requirements for these wines are already set in the vineyard, where strict selection of grapes and yield restrictions work towards optimum quality. This results in wines with distinctive varietal characteristics, elegant structure and great aging potential.
