Kollerhof

Only in 2012 did Kollerhof begin to vinify its own Pinot Noir, focusing on meticulous craftsmanship from vine to bottle.

In 1965/1966, the Visintin family acquired the historic estate. At that time, around four hectares of Pinot Noir—traditionally grown in the pergola system—were already part of the vineyard. In the 1990s, Herbert Visintin took over the estate, which he still runs today with his children, continuously modernizing it.
A significant turning point came in 1995: the classic trellis system was replaced by the modern double-row Guyot method, with about 9,000 vines per hectare. In response to increasing sun exposure and climate change, the estate now relies on manual canopy management and selective cluster thinning to protect the grapes naturally.
Only in 2012 did Kollerhof begin to vinify its own Pinot Noir, focusing on meticulous craftsmanship from vine to bottle. A milestone followed in 2015 with the release of the Aegis Riserva, a strictly selected Pinot Noir from the “Egid” vineyard, where grapes are halved early in development to ensure optimal concentration.
In 2009, an experimental project began with the fungus-resistant Solaris grape, planted in Anterivo/Altrei at about 1,200 meters above sea level—the hometown of Ingrid Visintin (Herbert’s wife). Despite the steep terrain, all vineyard work is done by hand. Since 2015, this Solaris wine has become a permanent part of the range and has been honored with the “I Sole” award from the Veronelli Guide.
Today, Kollerhof is a small family-run winery that sets high standards in both Pinot Noir and its experimental Solaris. The Riserva “Aegis” positions itself in the premium segment through low yields, precise manual harvesting, and extended aging—partly in oak barrels or tonneaux. The estate stands at the crossroads of tradition, handcraft, and a modern understanding of terroir in one of South Tyrol’s top regions for Pinot Noir: the Mazon Plateau.
