Unterortl
The Unterortl winery, located on the Juval hill in the lower Vinschgau near Naturns, represents the perfect symbiosis of vision and pragmatism. Since its founding in 1992 by owner Reinhold Messner and tenant Gisela & Martin Aurich, the winery has developed into a small but remarkable business whose wines and distillates authentically express the unique nature of the Juval hill.
The location on the steep Juval hill and the small parceled areas shape the character of the cultivated grape varieties and the cultivated fruit for the distillery. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually on a total of four hectares of steep slope viticulture, which reflect the essence of the terroir. The careful handwork and natural management of the vineyards contribute to the unique quality and personality of Unterortl wines.
