Castello di Ama

Castello di Ama is an outstanding winery in the heart of Tuscany, located in the renowned Chianti region. Founded in the 1970s, the winery has become one of the most respected producers of Chianti Classico. Castello di Ama's vineyards cover 80 hectares in the picturesque countryside around the historic village of Ama, located in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti.

The owners of the winery, Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti, have made tremendous efforts in recent decades to perfect the quality of their wines. Marco Pallanti, who has worked at the winery since 1982 and was named Winemaker of the Year in 2003, has made a decisive contribution to the recognition and reputation of Castello di Ama. Under his leadership, modern techniques were introduced to maximize the quality and expression of terroir in wines.

The special feature of Castello di Ama lies in the exceptional location of the vineyards, which are located at an altitude of 450 to 550 meters and are characterized by calcareous soils. These conditions are ideal for growing Sangiovese, the main Chianti Classico grape variety. However, the winery also produces excellent wines from international varieties such as Merlot and Chardonnay. The estate's most famous wines include “Castello di Ama San Lorenzo”, a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, and “L'Apparita”, a pure Merlot considered one of the best Merlots in Italy. These wines are characterized by their elegance, complexity and longevity.
