Villa Antinori is a symbol of the history, identity, and continuity of the Antinori family in winemaking. In 1928, Niccolò Antinori, the father of Piero Antinori, decided to name a wine after the family villa to reflect his personal interpretation of Chianti and Tuscan identity.
The Villa del Cigliano, located in the gentle hills of San Casciano in Val di Pesa in the province of Florence, has been owned by the Antinori family since 1546. Generations of the family were born here, and it is the place where their journey into the world of winemaking and wine production began. This villa symbolizes the family's history and is depicted on the label of Villa Antinori wine.
Over nearly a century, Villa Antinori has represented the concept of the home, the territory, and Tuscany in a contemporary style. This wine was created based on a specific concept of wine production: on one hand, through experimentation and development, and on the other hand, through the preservation of historical values.
For the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, the world's most prestigious golf tournament, Villa Antinori was selected as the official wine supplier. Piero Antinori, honorary president of Marchesi Antinori, commented: "As a golfer myself, it is a great honor for me and my family to be partners of the Ryder Cup at this significant sporting event. The choice of Villa Antinori, our most historic wine, symbol of Tuscany and quality, aligns perfectly with the great history and prestige of this event."
