Tenuta di Biserno

The estate’s vineyards are situated on gentle hills with south and southwest exposure, providing optimal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

Tenuta di Biserno is a relatively young but already internationally recognized winery in Tuscany, Italy, specifically in the Bolgheri region, known for its high-quality Super Tuscan wines. The estate was founded in the early 2000s by Alfredo Altavilla, an Italian entrepreneur with a passion for wine, in collaboration with renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini, who advised the project from the very beginning. The goal was to produce a wine that combines the elegance of Tuscan tradition with modern winemaking techniques.
The estate’s vineyards are situated on gentle hills with south and southwest exposure, providing optimal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The soils consist of a mix of sand, clay, and limestone, giving the wines their characteristic structure, freshness, and minerality. Already in its first years, Tenuta di Biserno managed to gain international attention with its flagship wine, “Biserno”, and joined the ranks of sought-after Super Tuscans.
Today, Tenuta di Biserno stands for uncompromising quality and modern elegance. The winery produces several wines, including Biserno, the flagship, as well as other labels like Poggio al Grilli and Soffocone di Vincigliata, reflecting different aspects of the soils and microclimates. Modern cellar technology is combined here with traditional methods such as hand-harvested grapes, controlled fermentation, and aging in French barriques.
