The Roner Distillery is a traditional distillery located in Termeno, South Tyrol, founded in 1946 by Gottfried Roner. Driven by a passion for high-quality spirits, he began producing Grappa, the classic South Tyrolean pomace brandy, in his home distillery. Soon, he expanded the range to include herbal and fruit liqueurs such as gentian, juniper, and blueberry, which remain regional specialties to this day.
In the 1960s, the founder’s sons, Andreas and Günther Roner, joined the family business. Günther took on the role of Master Distiller, while Andreas managed the company’s operations. Under their leadership, the distillery experienced significant growth, marked by the acquisition of the Ritterhof estate in Caldaro in 1999. This allowed Roner not only to source its own grapes but also to further enhance the quality of its spirits.
Today, the Roner Distillery is run by the third generation under Karin Roner. Under her guidance, the company was awarded “Distillery of the Year” in 2007. The distillery is known for its high degree of vertical integration: it cultivates its own fruit varieties, such as Williams pears, Gravensteiner apples, and Lagrein grapes, and processes them on-site, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to ensure the highest quality.
With over 75 years of experience, Roner is now one of the most awarded distilleries in Italy. Its product range includes not only Grappa but also a variety of fruit brandies, liqueurs, gin, whisky, and non-alcoholic spirits. The distillery is a popular destination for visitors, offering tours and tastings to explore the art of distillation.
