Regent is a relatively young grape variety, created in 1967 in Germany, that has found an excellent home in South Tyrol. It is renowned for its deep, dark colour, medium body and firm tannins reminiscent of classic Bordeaux reds. Another hallmark is its natural resistance to fungal diseases, making it ideal for sustainable and organic viticulture.
Regent wines show intense aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, plum and delicate spice.
In South Tyrol, remarkable interpretations are produced: Burgfrieden from Burgerhof Meßner highlights how Regent combines alpine freshness with spiciness, while the Rubus and Robustus BIO cuvées from Santerhof showcase elegance and depth through organic cultivation.
Whether crafted as a single-varietal wine or in expressive blends, Regent impresses with dense fruit, balanced structure and a strong link to sustainable winemaking.
