The Sauternes Barsac 1er Grand Cru Classé – Château Coutet is an outstanding sweet white wine from the prestigious Barsac appellation in Bordeaux. Château Coutet is one of the region’s oldest and most historic estates and was already classified as a Premier Cru Classé in the official 1855 classification, a title that highlights its long-standing reputation and consistent quality. Limestone, clay and fine gravel soils, combined with the unique microclimate between the Garonne and Ciron rivers, encourage the development of Botrytis cinerea – noble rot – which defines this wine and gives it its unmistakable complexity. Harvesting is carried out by hand in several passes to select only perfectly botrytised berries.
In the glass, this Sauternes shows a bright golden yellow colour, already hinting at its richness and concentration. On the nose, it reveals a layered bouquet with intense aromas of honey, candied apricot, exotic citrus fruits and white flowers, complemented by delicate spice notes and an elegant mineral depth shaped by noble rot and terroir.
