The Chardonnay IGT “Gottesacker” 2023 from Abraham is a single-varietal Chardonnay named after a historic vineyard plot called “Gottesacker” located at about 450 m elevation above Eppan. The limestone-rich, clay and gravel soils lend characteristic minerality. Grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed, and fermented spontaneously in 500‑ and 600‑liter oak barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the wine rests nine months on full lees and another six months in steel tanks, balancing creamy texture with structural finesse.
In the glass, it appears a bright yellow-green with lively clarity. The bouquet reveals citrus, apple, exotic fruit, along with subtle nutty and slightly reductive nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy, with delicate spice, fresh acidity, and a salty, lingering finish. A sophisticated and expressive Chardonnay, marrying Mediterranean elegance with Alpine freshness.
