Tenuta di Trinoro – Rosso Toscana IGT Trinoro 2022 is a bold Supertuscan from the renowned Tenuta di Trinoro, located in Sarteano, in the southern part of Tuscany. This iconic red wine is based on a classic Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot – a combination that brings together the typical strengths of these varietals, giving the wine a distinctive and unmistakable profile from the Tuscany region. The grapes come from carefully selected parcels of land on arid soils with limestone and clay fragments, contributing to a high expression of terroir and structure. Since its first bottling in 1995, Trinoro has been one of Italy’s most prestigious red wines, always uncompromising in its pursuit of quality.
The vinification process involves spontaneous fermentations in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by an extended maturation period of around 8 months in barriques and another 12 months in cement, which imparts depth, harmony, and a fine tannin structure to the wine. The production is limited, which emphasizes its exclusivity and aging potential.
In the glass, the Trinoro 2022 displays an intense, deep color, with an almost impenetrable core, a visual promise of concentration and maturity. On the nose, complex aromas of ripe dark fruits, graphite undertones, underbrush, delicate herbs, and elegant spice emerge, all underpinned by subtle, well-integrated wood notes. On the palate, the wine captivates with its juicy, full-bodied structure, dense tannins, and precise acidity, adding length and freshness. The finish is long, elegant, and nuanced, with a mineral depth and a subtle bitterness that invites the next sip.
