The roots of Cantina Caruna go back to the year 2000, when the family acquired a dilapidated 19th-century farmhouse along with around 13 hectares of vineyards on the sun-drenched southern slopes of Monte Orfano in Lombardy. This gently rolling hillside terrain, with its moraine-based soil of calcareous gravel, sand, and clay, shapes the distinctly mineral character of Caruna wines and gives the site its unique microclimate.
Since its foundation, Caruna has pursued a small-scale yet ambitious production model, producing around 30,000 bottles annually. The estate practices integrated, eco-conscious viticulture—blending ecological principles with modern agronomy to safeguard the terroir, while deliberately forgoing official organic certification.
Caruna made its debut in 2015 with its first Franciacorta: a Blanc de Blancs Brut made from 100% Chardonnay. Aged on the lees for at least 18 months, with a dosage under 5 g/l and extended bottle aging, the wine firmly established its style—elegant, mineral-driven, with a fine and creamy mousse. This profile reflects the region's signature Satèn style—pure white wines (Chardonnay or Pinot Bianco), lower pressure (max 5 bar), and a soft, silky effervescence.
Today, Caruna is regarded as one of the most promising boutique producers in Franciacorta. Its wines follow a “Naturally Chic” philosophy: measured, terroir-focused, yet stylish.
