When speaking of Gianfranco Fino, one refers to a winemaker dedicated to preserving traditional viticultural practices. His journey began in 2004 with the acquisition of a small 1.3-hectare Primitivo vineyard cultivated using the traditional Puglian Alberello method.
Gianfranco Fino's vineyards thrive on calcareous, clay-rich red soils, caressed by the breeze of the Ionian Sea and the warm Apulian sun. His primary goal is to produce wines with a strong sense of territorial identity, a goal he quickly achieved thanks to his persistence as a "craftsman of the vines."
Work in the vineyard is carried out meticulously, with all operations performed manually. Harvesting begins in the early morning hours, with selected grapes hand-picked into crates and transported to the winery in refrigerated vehicles. Destemming starts only in the afternoon, once the grapes have reached the optimal temperature.
The wines age for at least nine months in 228-liter French oak barriques. In 2021, Gianfranco Fino realized another dream with the opening of a new winery and wine resort in the Manduria area, surrounded by vineyards and designed to welcome and delight wine enthusiasts.
