The Primitivo di Manduria DOC “SE” 2023 by Gianfranco Fino represents a benchmark expression of Apulian Primitivo. “SE”, standing for Sogno e Emozione (Dream and Emotion), reflects the depth and intensity that define this outstanding wine. Primitivo, the flagship grape of Manduria and genetically related to Zinfandel, is known for its rich dark fruit, warmth and enveloping structure. Grown on iron-rich red soils under the Mediterranean sun of Puglia, it achieves remarkable ripeness and aromatic concentration. The estate works with very low yields and meticulous grape selection to ensure maximum quality and expression. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of black cherry, plum and ripe dark berries, complemented by nuances of cocoa, sweet spices and subtle tobacco notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet refined, with dense structure, ripe polished tannins and impressive balance. The finish is long, enveloping and persistent.
