Egger Ramer
The Egger-Ramer winery in Bolzano, South Tyrol, is a traditional family business that has made a name for itself by producing Lagrein wines. For over a century, Lagrein has been the flagship grape variety of the winery, which is managed by the Egger-Ramer family for the fifth generation. The estate's wines are characterized by their combination of alpine and Mediterranean characteristics, which is due to the unique location in Bolzano and the use of autochthonous grape varieties such as Vernatsch and Gewürztraminer.
The winery is located right in the heart of Bolzano and benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool nights, ideal for ripening grapes with intense aromas and balanced acidity. The soils in this region are characterized by loamy and sandy components, which gives the wines a special minerality. Sustainable management and the organic approach in the vineyards also contribute to the high quality of the wines.
Peter Egger-Ramer, the current winemaker, continues the family tradition with a modern approach by placing particular emphasis on the quality and varietal expression of Lagrein. The winery is known for its open sales and offers visitors the opportunity to taste the wines directly on site and learn more about winemaking.
