Dieter Sölva is primarily responsible for the cellar, while the younger generation is increasingly involved in the daily work of the estate. Their philosophy focuses on producing authentic South Tyrolean wines that clearly reflect both grape variety and origin.
Niklaserhof cultivates around 5.5 hectares of vineyards located in different sites around Kaltern. Each vineyard is carefully managed to highlight the unique characteristics of its terroir. Sustainable vineyard practices, meticulous manual work and precise cellar techniques allow the winery to produce wines that are elegant, balanced and strongly connected to their origin.
The portfolio focuses on traditional grape varieties typical of South Tyrol. Among the red varieties, Vernatsch and Lagrein play a central role. Vernatsch is known for producing elegant and fruit-driven wines typical of the Lake Kaltern area, while Lagrein stands for deeper structure, darker fruit and greater intensity.
For white wines, Kerner, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon are particularly important. Kerner offers vibrant freshness and aromatic spice, Pinot Bianco is one of the most refined white varieties of South Tyrol, and Sauvignon is appreciated for its expressive aromatics and lively acidity.
The estate produces both classic Alto Adige DOC wines and selected bottlings from specific vineyard sites. With a relatively small production and strong focus on quality, Niklaserhof represents the style of the Überetsch region: precise, terroir-driven and authentic South Tyrolean wines.
