Pian delle Vigne
The Tenuta “Pian delle Vigne” is located 6 km southwest of Montalcino and covers an area of 184 hectares, of which 65 hectares are planted with vines. This property offers a personal and profound interpretation of Brunello by Marchesi Antinori. Since 1995, the year of the first Brunello Pian delle Vigne harvest, the estate has been owned by the Antinori family.
The 65 hectares of vineyards on which Sangiovese (known locally as “Brunello”) is grown are located at altitudes of 130 meters, mainly facing south-west. The soils, which tend to be clayey and calcareous and are rich in fine rocks, give Brunello a tasteful and elegant character. The name Tenuta Pian delle Vigne is derived from the area of the same name, which houses a typical 19th century railway station.
