Dei

Cantine Dei is a winery in Montepulciano, Tuscany, known for producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The winery's history began in 1964 when Alibrando Dei acquired the Bossona estate and planted the first vineyard. In the 1970s, the estate expanded with the purchase of Villa Martiena and the surrounding vineyards. In 1985, the Dei family released their first bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
The winery's philosophy is based on the belief that wine is a heritage that, like the land, must be protected. This ethos was established by Alibrando Dei and is continued today by his granddaughter, Maria Caterina Dei. She views wine as a cultural treasure that reflects the history and tradition of the region.
A notable feature of Cantine Dei is the travertine wine cellar, a material the family has worked with for generations. Glauco Dei, Maria Caterina's father, designed and built this cellar, which blends harmoniously with the gentle hills of Montepulciano. The cellar features a spiral ramp, reminiscent of fossilized shells, reflecting the uniqueness of the soil in the Bossona vineyard.
Today, Maria Caterina Dei runs the winery, continuing the family tradition by preserving the values and knowledge of her family. Under her leadership, Cantine Dei produces wines that capture the essence of the Montepulciano terroir and are recognized worldwide.
